Dos and Don'ts

Job interviews are your chance to show what you have to offer to potential employers. It is important to prepare before each interview.

Task 1:

Listen to this mock job interview; list all the Dos and Don'ts which the interviewer has mentioned. Click here to listen to it.

Task 2:

Search the internet to find the 10 most annoying gestures during a job interview.


Task 3:

Telephone interviews can be as stressful as the one-on-one too. Here is another video you will watch to give you some tips for telephone interviewing.

    Don’t wear huge jewelry, wear flash colors or don’t put too much make up
    Don’t give a faint hand shake
    Don’t give a bone crushing handshake

    Don’t focus on your personality or your character when you talk about the weaknesses
    You are not obligated to answer to the personal questions
    Don’t wear too much perfume or cologne
    If you forgot to turn your cell phone off, apologize immediately when it ring, turn it off and don’t look who called you

     Fill a glass of water and head over to your prepared space.
     Be respectful and friendly while at the same time retaining a professional demeanor.
     Speak clearly and slowly when you are answering questions.
     At the end of the interview, be sure to thank the interviewer.
     Send a brief, personal thank-you note in the mail to the company.
